What to Expect at Your First Visit to a Cannabis Dispensary

The first time you walk into a medical and recreational dispensary might be overwhelming. One, the long-standing stigma surrounding the use of cannabis might even make you feel like you are doing something wrong. Fret not! Mighty Tree prides itself on being helpful. No need to feel intimidated at our shops, we have heard it all and are so excited to help you every step of the way.
So, what exactly should you expect, and how do you prepare? Let’s find out!

Expect to be asked for your ID

Every single time you walk into a dispensary you are going to need your state-issued ID ready. Staff are going to need to look at it the moment you walk into the store, and once again at the register when you finalize your purchase so keep that ID somewhere easily accessible. Passports are also an acceptable form of ID and know that if your ID has any visible cracks or chips in it, the store will likely refuse you entry.

At Mighty Tree, we serve both medical and recreational customers 21 years of age or older so if you are shopping medical you will need your active medical marijuana registry card as well as your active state-issued ID. Once again, you will need to show it upon entry and when checking out at the register.

Even if you become a regular and we know you, you will always need that ID and medical card with you to shop!

Don’t be surprised if you have to wait

It is perfectly normal to have to wait to shop; you may be asked to sit in the lobby before going into the main part of the dispensary. Some stores only allow one patient at a time or a small number of customers onto their salesfloor. This is toprotect patient privacy.

Try to make the most of your time by browsing the shop’s products online instead of scrolling aimlessly through social media or prepare any questions you might have to get the most out of your trip and expedite the shopping process.

Look, but don’t touch!

In most cases, you will not be allowed to touch any products in a dispensary. While you are permitted to look at the cannabis items for sale, your budtender is the only one allowed to handle the product until after you have purchased it and left the store.

Ask Questions

If you have a question, just ask! This is what our budtenders are there for. At Mighty Tree, our helpful and friendly staff is there to make you feel welcome and listened to. We are chock full of knowledge on all of our products – if there is something specific you’re after, let us know and we can make a recommendation! After all we want you to leave the store satisfied, happy, and confident in your purchase.

Don’t feel pressured

If for some reason you can’t make up your mind or end up not feeling like making a purchase that day, we understand! When buying cannabis is new for you, you might just be stopping in to do some research and get your bearings before deciding. We are here for you when you are ready, and hope you’ll come back and see us again soon!
